While the Trayvon Martin trial hangs over all of us here at Apogee, despite some small triumphs, some cool blog projects, and the protests that continue — albeit misreported — we thought this poem by Brian Patrick Heston, published in Issue Two of Apogee, fits well as this week’s content share.

BRIAN PATRICK HESTON grew up in Philadelphia. He is a winner of the Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Prize. His chapbook “Barking at the Storm” has been a finalist for several contests, and his full length manuscript “If You Find Yourself ” has been a semi-finalist for the Philip Levine Book Prize. His poetry has appeared in such publications as West Branch, Harpur Palate, Poet Lore, and is forthcoming in South Carolina Review and UCity Review. Presently, he teaches creative writing at the Community College of Philadelphia.
